Centre for Public Impact Welcomes Nick Thompson as Chief Executive Officer
LONDON, UK, 23/01/2025—The Centre for Public Impact (CPI) is delighted to announce Nick Thompson’s appointment as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Nick brings a wealth of leadership experience working at the intersection of government, strategy, and organisational transformation in the public sector.
Nick, the former Executive Director for Africa at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI), led and built the government advisory practice in Africa. Before this, he was CEO of the Tony Blair Africa Governance Initiative (AGI), where he played a pivotal role in leading AGI through its creation and eventual merger with TBI. He was also a civil servant working on EU policies at the heart of the UK government and Brussels.
With a proven track record of leading innovative initiatives and fostering collaboration, Nick is uniquely positioned to guide CPI through the next phase of its journey.

Nick Thompson, CPI’s incoming Chief Executive Officer, shares:
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Centre for Public Impact. CPI’s mission – to reimagine government so it works for everyone – is inspiring. But today, it’s more urgent and essential than ever, given the rapid emergence of AI, the realities of a changing climate, and the challenges to democracy that governments and political systems worldwide face.
“Having seen CPI’s impressive growth and impact over its first ten years, along with the team’s talent, commitment, and values, I’m excited to join at this pivotal moment and help build on this ongoing success. I want to thank Adrian Brown for his fantastic leadership, which has been integral in getting CPI to where it is today. I look forward to working alongside all our partners and stakeholders to continue driving transformative change around the globe.”

Larry Kamener, Chair of CPI’s Global Board, adds:
“Nick Thompson’s appointment as CEO of the Centre for Public Impact marks an exciting new chapter for CPI as we continue our mission of reimagining government. Nick brings with him an incredible depth of experience in governance, strategy, and organizational transformation. The Board and I are confident that Nick’s leadership will help CPI to deepen its impact around the globe. We look forward to seeing how CPI grows and evolves under his guidance.”
