Harnessing social imagination in the era of the climate crisis

In 2023, the Centre for Public Impact in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand (ANZ) ran a social imagination project.

Funded by the Centre for Public Impact’s Climate Change Initiative, we convened people who live or work in Southbank to reimagine how we might collectively tackle the climate crisis.

Read our report to dive deeper into the project, exploring what we learned and our impacts on the community of Southbank as we worked to:

  • Explore social imagination as a mechanism for social and environmental change.
  • Explore the conditions and practices that encourage people to engage in social imagination practice.
  • Engage communities with a sense of individual and collective agency, particularly in the context of climate change.
  • Generate ideas for actions to address the climate crisis, developed by people who live or work in Southbank and responding to local priorities.
