Senior Associate, Europe
She joined the CPI team in 2023.
Mahreen received her MA in Politics from the University of Edinburgh. Over the past eight years, she has worked across policy, operations, strategy, and evaluation — roles that have deepened her commitment to making government more inclusive and responsive.
Before joining CPI, Mahreen worked with Google’s Government Administration and Public Policy team and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. There, she honed her skills in convening policymakers, government officials, and civil society organisations around complex challenges. She also led capacity-building programmes designed to widen access to policymaking careers for women and young people from underrepresented backgrounds.
Mahreen joined CPI in 2023 as a Senior Associate on the Europe team. She is particularly interested in supporting actors tackle complex challenges in ways that stretch our political imagination, centre equity, and amplify the voices of the communities they serve. In her work, Mahreen wants to challenge assumptions about what is possible within the systems we live in and to inspire others to do the same, thinking boldly about the future, strategy, and how these ideas can translate into policy, design, and delivery. She enjoys acting as a convenor of cross-sector collaborations, helping groups learn, adapt, and evolve together.
At the heart of Mahreen’s work is a belief in the power of relationships. She really cares about building trusting and honest relationships with people!
Originally from London, Mahreen now lives in Berlin, Germany. She speaks fluent English and Spanish, and conversational German (B2). Outside of work, she finds joy in dancing!
