Senior Associate, North America
Tahmid Islam is Senior Associate with North America team at the Centre for Public Impact.
He joined CPI in 2023.
Tahmid has a BSc from Queen Mary University London in Economics and Politics. He also received a full scholarship as an Urban Scholar Fellow from the Harvard Graduate School of Education for Learning Design, Innovation and Technology.
He has worked on the Bristol City Council/William Monroe Trotter Collaborative for Social Justice as a policy advisor. In this role, Tahmid developed ambitious advocacy campaigns that achieved economic justice for marginalised communities in Bristol.
Tahmid also worked as a Programme Manager for Peace First, working remotely for a global online platform in a diverse team supporting young people to create community social action projects across Europe. Finally, Tahmid worked for Citizens, the UK’s largest community organising network, representing marginalised people and communities from across London and nationally, where he led campaigns for policy change.
In his work at CPI, Tahmid is particularly interested in building greater connections between residents and local government. He loves that his work on the TOPC programme includes supporting governments to see the value of working collaboratively with residents to find solutions to the challenges they experience.
